PNP councillors of KSAC seeking clarity on Mayor’s comments

The Caucus of People's National Party councillors in the KSAC is seeking clarity on the statement made by the Mayor of the KSAC, Desmond McKenzie in relation to the cleaning of drains.

Mayor McKenzie reportedly made reference to councillors not being paid because drains in their Divisions which should have been cleaned, were not done.

PNP concerned at appointment of Marcia Forbes as Permanent Secretary

The People's National Party is questioning the appointment of Mrs. Marcia Forbes as the new Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Mining and Telecoms.

The Party is asking whether established processes and procedures for the appointment of permanent secretaries were followed.

PNP calls for halt to demolition of houses in Westmoreland

The People's National Party is expressing grave concern about the timing of the demolition of houses in Whitehall, Westmoreland by the National Housing Development Corporation.

Opposition Spokesman on Housing, Robert Pickersgill said "While the NHDC may have a right to protect the interests of the legitimate land owners, it is inhumane and inconsiderate to demolish the houses when the country is on a Hurricane Watch and is likely to feel the adverse effects of a severe weather system."

The People's National Party is expressing concern and is demanding an explanation for what appears to be a blatant disregard for established procedure of not allowing the boarding of the firearms on an aircraft.

As the P.N.P. celebrates seventy years of existence:

I must thank our Party President, Mrs Portia Simpson Miller for reminding the members of the National Executive Council, at our recent meeting held in July this year, of the role of O.T. Fairclough in the formation of the Party. As she outlined Fairclough's role saying that he initiated the idea of the People's National Party, I could see a number of the members expressing surprise and perhaps wondering if she had her facts right.
