Opposition Leader dissolves Spokespersons' Council |

In light of the recently concluded Presidential Elections in the People's National Party, Party President and Leader of the Opposition, the Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller advises that the Council of Opposition Spokespersons has been dissolved effective September 23, 2008.
A new Council of Opposition Spokespersons will be appointed before the next sitting of the Parliament. The new Council of Spokespersons will reflect the thrust of the Parliamentary Opposition to advance the Progressive Agenda for national development. Mrs. Simpson Miller has also received and has accepted the resignation of Comrade Dr. Peter Phillips from the Parliamentary post of Leader of Opposition Business in the Lower House and from the post of Opposition Spokesperson for National Security. Mrs. Simpson Miller sincerely thanks Dr. Phillips for his contribution in both positions. The Opposition Leader further expresses her gratitude to all Members of Parliament who served previously as Opposition Spokespersons for their contribution in these roles over the last year. Mrs. Simpson Miller reaffirms her commitment to the upliftment of the people of Jamaica in the quest for the establishment of a common national vision of One Jamaica, One Family - Shaping the Future Together. |
