The People's National Party is expressing grave concern about the timing of the demolition of houses in Whitehall, Westmoreland by the National Housing Development Corporation.

Opposition Spokesman on Housing, Robert Pickersgill said "While the NHDC may have a right to protect the interests of the legitimate land owners, it is inhumane and inconsiderate to demolish the houses when the country is on a Hurricane Watch and is likely to feel the adverse effects of a severe weather system."

The Party is calling for a halt to the demolition exercise and for the relocation to take place at another time.

The Party wishes to make it clear that it does not condone illegal squatting and supports the rights of land owners to have access to their properties.
