The Secretariat of the People's National Party views with grave concern and consternation, allegations and counter allegations being made in the media by representatives of the presidential candidates.  Image
Party Chairman, Robert Pickersgill said "I wish to remind both teams of the Rules of Engagement signed by both candidates and their teams, and what I observe to be a clear breach of these guidelines."

The specific guidelines that have been breached are:

  • To avoid personal attacks on or the denigration of all other Candidates, their teams and supporters.
  • To submit all complaints or protests in writing to or through the General Secretary, to be available where and when required; to substantiate such complaints and protests; to support the attendance of witnesses; to provide documents for any Panel or Officer duly appointed to hear such complaints or protests and to accept the decision taken thereon.

The Secretariat is reminding members that an Oversight Committee has been established to monitor the conduct of the elections and that any complaint or report should be sent to the Party Secretariat for resolution. The Secretariat acknowledges that it received a written complaint from Team PNP in relation to the distribution of delegate nomination forms in St. Thomas and is investigating the matter.

Mr. Pickersgill said "I am calling on the representatives of the candidates to cease and desist from making any further comment in the media in relation to these allegations and to allow the internal dispute resolution mechanism of the Party to be concluded."

The Secretariat will continue to monitor these developments and will determine whether any further action is necessary to preserve the integrity of the Party.
