The People's National Party has expressed its willingness to participate in a resumption of the Vale Royal Talks which the Government has requested be convened as a matter of urgency.  Whilst responding positively to this request, the Opposition has expressed its disappointment that there has been no follow through on the decision of the previous meeting held in January to convene subcommittees to facilitate more detailed discussions on some ten (10) subjects (including national security) raised at the meeting of the full committee. Further, to date, the Government has failed to deliver on its promise to provide the Opposition certain identified information that would advance the forging of the national consensus on some critical matters.

The Opposition is strongly recommending to the Government that given the recent upsurge in crime  and the understandable state of heightened fear and  national concern about this matter, the forthcoming Talks should be solely dedicated to finding some common ground on this issue and that every effort be made to harness the goodwill of all Jamaicans in attacking this monster.
