The Communist Party of Cuba has offered the PNP five scholarships this year: 2 in Medicine; 1 in Pure Sciences and 2 in Health Technology. The requirements for the applicants are outlined below. Application Requirements
Birth Certificate. The application must be between the age of 18 and 25 years old
Have an education level equivalent to Cuban senior high school, i.e. 12 grades of education
Come from a low-income family
Certified Bill of Health or Health Certificate stating that the applicant is physically and mentally fit to take the course, that the applicant does not suffer from any STD (and explicitly that he/she is not an HIV carrier), that the application does not suffer from any type of hepatitis, and that female candidates are not pregnant
Original Report Card containing the subjects taken in Senior High School or equivalent level. This document must include all the subjects taken by the applicant in every year of this level and their respective marks. This document must be translated into Spanish and duly authenticated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica and the Cuban Embassy in Kingston
8 photographs (5x4) for the Foreign Student ID
Certificate of Criminal Records.
Foreign students who have completed their senior high-school education in Letters or Sciences will enroll in programs related to those respective fields and must have passed 5 basic subjects. For the students that are going to enroll in medicine it is mandatory to have passed Biology and Chemistry. The ones in engineering must have passed Mathematical and Physics.
Please note that with regards to the requirements for eligibility for medicine, Biology and Chemistry at Cape or A-level are required with Physics being the other science subject, which can alternate with the Chemistry in a either or situation. Biology is the key subject though!
