Click here at 9pm tonight to Watch/Listen the Debate Live Via the PNP Website As the nation prepares for the upcoming General Election, on August 27, 2007, the first of three National Political Debates, organized by the Jamaica Debates Commission, will be held tonight, starting at nine 0’ clock and running until ten thirty.
Tonight’s debate will focus on social issues and the People’s National Party’s representative is Cde. Vice President, Dr. Peter Phillips, Minister of National Security and Candidate for East Central St. Andrew. The Jamaica Labour Party will be represented by its Chairman and candidate for St. Catherine West Central Dr. Ken Baugh. The debate will be webcasted live via our website www.pnpjamaica.com, and can also be heard on Hot 102, RJR, Power 106 and seen on CVM TV and TVJ. All debates are scheduled to begin at nine in the night and end at ten thirty. The second debate, on the economy, will be held on Friday August 10, 2007. The participants will be, the Finance and Planning Minister and PNP candidate, for St. Andrew South, Dr. Omar Davies and the JLP’s spokesman on Finance and candidate, for Manchester North East, Audley Shaw. On Saturday night, the Leaders Debate will take place, and the People’s National Party will be represented by Party President and PNP candidate for St. Andrew South West, Prime Minister, The Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller. The Jamaica Labour Party will be represented by Opposition Leader and JLP candidate, for Kingston West, Bruce Golding. All Jamaicans are being encouraged to view and listen to the debates, which form a part of the election campaign process and allows the public to see and hear some of the policies, programmes, implementation methods and funding mechanisms, to be utilized by the two major political parties in the country as we near Election Day 2007. |
